Accion-ecumenica-inmediata, HACIA la NUEVA-JERUSALEM

The Tantur Institute for Ecumenical Studies is situated on the main road between Jerusalem and Bethlehem and serves as a welcoming place in the Holy Land for visitors from all over the world, including:
scholars in a variety of disciplines
teachers, students, and conference attendees
spiritual sojourners of all Christian faiths
Tantur offers programs of continuing education and spiritual renewal for:
clergy and members of religious communities
laity seeking enrichment in the land where Jesus lived and taught
In 7-14 May 2009, Tantur will be offering a unique program entitled "Paul in his Milieu: Land, Religion and Culture." Typically, St. Paul has been associated with Asia Minor (thus the frequent trips to Turkey "in the footsteps of St. Paul"). But he is also connected to the Land where Jesus walked (including at least one tradition that his parents were born in Jish near modern-day Acco). This singular Tantur program will combine scholarly lectures, small group discussion, and field trips to places associated with Paul's life and mission. Speakers include James D.G. Dunn, Jerome Murphy-O'Connor, Paula Fredriksen, and David Aune; they will offer insights from different perspectives on aspects of Paul and his thought in this, one of his geographical contexts. We hope that a deeper understanding of the land, religion and culture of the time of Paul will enhance the academic, ecumenical and pastoral work of Conference participants. For more information on this exciting educational opportunity, as well as application information, please contact us. (Participants may also be interested in an extra three-day series of excursions in the Holy Land—15-17 May).
